Peru and the Moche’s

Time to write about Peru, when you hear about Peru most people will only hear about Inca’s when there are other civilisations that precede it.  There are Moche and Chimu primarily which flourished and build great cities in Lambayeque, Chicama and the city between Huaca del Sol and Huaca de Luna which had at its height 20,000 – 30,000 people.

These civilisations in South America flourished at the time of the Roman Empire and other Asian civilisations. Western Education is severely lacking when it only mentions the Pyramids of Egypt and people are not made aware that there are others.

Thus far the Moche culture has fascinated both of us particularly with the Tombs of the Lords of Sipan, two intact tombs found in Peru in 1987 and 1988, the richness of the Tombs rivals Tuthankamen’s Tombs and discovery by Howard Carter and the 5th Earl of Carnarvon George Herbert.

My photo for today is a Mural from Huaca de Luna discovered in 1998 and glimpse of how the Pyramid would have been decorated.
